LaVon Coombs
She was born March 22, 1906, in Midway, Utah, to Charles
W. and Emma Amelia Barben Smith. She was raised in
Roosevelt, Utah. She married Alvin Andrew Coombs March 9,
1929, in Duchesne, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized
in the Manti LDS Temple June 26, 1929. He died March 10,
1976.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints, serving in Primary, Relief Society and
Young Women. She sang in the ward choir for 60 years. She
served three missions to Zuni, New Mexico, Washington, D.C.
and Salt Lake Genealogy Society. She was an active member of
the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, recorder of Fountain
Green Cemetery records and worked for 29 years for the
Moroni Turkey Plant.
She is survived by three sons, Jay (Patricia) Coombs of
Fountain Green, Garn (Carolyn) Coombs of Springville, and
Doyle (Ann) Coombs of Nephi; 16 grandchildren; 54
great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She
was preceded in death by a son, Boyd Coombs, six brothers
and four sisters.
Funeral services were held May 14,2002, in the Fountain
Green LDS Chapel. Interment in the Fountain Green
Cemetery.
Madame Emilienne Caffart Orsi
Madame Emilienne Caffart Orsi passed away May 11, 2002,
in Paris, France. She was the mother of Madeleine (Dan)
Johnson of Nephi. She would have been 94 in August.
She is survived by 5 daughters and 2 sons, all living in
France. Also surviving her are 8 grandchildren, 15
great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She
was proceeded in death by her husband, Aleandre Orsi, and a
daughter, Denise Orsi Conintat.
The funeral will in Paris, France, on May 14, 2002.
