Mona's budget for the coming fiscal year needs to be
adopted by June 26.
"We have to adopt the budget for 2002 and amend the
budget for 2001 by the fourth Tuesday of June," said Rick
Schnurr, council member.
The preliminary budget will no longer show payments
for the city's new fire truck, since payment has been turned
over to the fire district. That will free some funds for the
city to use for other needs.
"Last year we purchased a snowplow from the Class C
road funds," said Schnurr. "This year we hope to improve
more of our roads."
Overlays are planned for several streets in the
community, he said. However, those refinishing projects will
not be done until the irrigation company completes the
secondary irrigation system installation.
"It wouldn't make much sense to do the work and then
find out that a street needed to be cut for a crossing,"
said Schnurr.
Schnurr said Greg Ogden would be on-hand to discuss
the budgets for the two fiscal years at the June 12
meeting.
"Tonight (May 22) was the council night for the public
to review the preliminary budget," he said.
Proper legal noticing will allow the budget to be
adopted on June 26. At that time, the 2001 budget will be
amended.
