Last Tuesday, a bus full of
nervous scholars headed towards the awards ceremony at
Millard High School. After a grueling year crammed with
service projects, leadership activities, and nerve wracking
interviews, the tension was climaxing as students waited to
see who would win a scholarship that would pave their way
through college. Upon arrival, prospective scholars milled
with students from across the state, flipped through
portfolios, and checked out the competition.
In every category, there are two
runners-up and one winner. Ashley Wright was a runner up in
the category of Family and Consumer Sciences. Ashley is the
daughter of Maughn and Karla Wright. Megan Vance won in the
field of Foreign Language. Megan is the daughter of Lynn and
Heather Vance. Matthew Nielson won in the field of Speech
and Drama. Matthew is the son of Glade and Mary Nielson.
Katelyn Peterson was a runner up in the General Scholarship
category. Katelyn is the daughter of Rhett and Ann Peterson.
