Darrel Price
1933-2005
Darrel Fame Price passed away on April 9, 2005. He was
born June 20, 1933 in Provo, Utah, to Fame and Tressie
Price. He married Helen Louise Blackburn July 12, 1951.
Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.
They were married 53 years.
He served in the Korean War from 1951-1954. After
returning home, he worked as a coal miner for 40 years. He
served in many positions in the LDS Church, including bishop
and high councilman. He also fulfilled a church service
mission with his wife at the Bishop's Storehouse.
Darrel loved camping, gardening, playing his guitar and
mandolin. He was an accomplished storyteller.
He is survived by his wife Helen Louise Blackburn; five
children, Bob (Doris) Price of Ferron, Jean (Randy) Smith of
Nephi, Kim (Wade) Riley of Clawson, Gary (Shaunnie) Price of
Clawson, and Stephen (Chantel) Price of Ferron; brothers,
Bud (Maria) Price of St. George, Johnny Binder of
Washington; and sisters, LaRue Remington of West Valley City
and Betty (Keith) Eatough of Arizona; 19 grandchildren and
20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his
parents Fame and Tressie Price.
Funeral services were held April 13 at the Blue Hills
Ward in Ferron.
Jack Sperry
1928~2005
Jack Goble Sperry, age 76, passed away April 17, 2005 in
Nephi, Utah. He was born July 21, 1928 in Nephi, to William
George and Marion LaPreal Goble Sperry.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-Day Saints, serving as a High Priest. He loved to
provide service to others. He loved music.
He is survived by three brothers, Ted (Nancy) Sperry of
Nephi, Max (Marva) Sperry of Salt Lake City, and Kenneth
(Kathy) Sperry of Cedar City. He was preceded in death by
his parents, sister, Karen Sperry; brother, William L.
Sperry.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April
22, 2005 in the Nephi 2nd Ward, 222 South 100 East. Friends
may call Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Anderson
Funeral Home, 94 West 300 North and at the church one hour
prior to the services. Interment will be in Vine Bluff
Cemetery, Nephi, Utah.
