It is possible to attend Juab School Board meeting if you
are a board member, even if you happen to be in Seattle,
Washington, the night of the meeting.
Leon Pexton, board president, found himself out of town
for the scheduled meeting but, thanks to technology, he
attended and voted as a member of the board, though he bowed
to Delanie Hathaway, board vice president, to act as
chairman for the meeting.
Pexton was contacted by telephone. He then hung up and
made the call himself and, via speaker phone, was able to
attend the meeting, make comments, and vote.
"I'll call you back," he said, after Darin Clark,
district clerk-treasurer, placed the call.
As one agenda item, Lorraine Wallace, Juab High School
English Department Chairman, told the board that one of the
questions students were given to write about was: "What do
you think was the greatest invention of all time?"
Perhaps, in the case of the school board, it might be
answered as: "the telephone."
