Dorothy Ball

Dorothy Delene Johnson Ball, age 73, passed away April 2, 2004 in Provo, Utah, after a lingering illness.

She was born December 22, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Burt Franklin and Glenda Elizabeth Weeding Johnson. She married Rodney Bert Ball September 27, 1952 in Ely, Nevada.

She was social worker for the State of Utah Child Protective Services. She was awarded the Silver Bowl Award for her actions as a volunteer for senior causes in Juab County. Dorothy reported the weather for the National Weather Service and for The Times-News for several years.

She is survived by her husband, Rodney of Nephi; children, Rod (Jeanne) Ball, John Willard (Connie) Ball, Glenda Louise (Steve) Barker, Richard Louis (Darla) Ball and Donald Wayne Ball; 14 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; brothers, William Johnson, Marvin Johnson and Monte Johnson; sisters, Zada Davis and Mary Bailey. She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, John Robert Ball.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2004 in the Nephi 5th Ward, 345 East 500 North. Friends may call Wednesday prior to the services from 9-10:45 a.m at the church. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery at 3 p.m.


Ira LaVor May

Ira LaVor May passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, April 4, 2004. He was born April 9, 1914 in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, to Ira Allen and Adella Walters May. He married Elna Nielsen on March 26, 1941 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died May 13, 2000.

He is survived by five of his children, Karma Harrison of Hanover Park, Illinois, Marlys Bernard of Rancho Mirage, California, Janet Sutorius of Nephi, Ladell May of Overland Park, Missouri, Daniel May of Puyallup, Washington; 16 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren; 5 brothers, Clifford May of Dillon, Montana, Warren May of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, James May of Magna, Bill May of Kelso, Washington, Norris May of Longview, Washington. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elna; two children, Karen Joan Fletcher and Aaron Grant May; one brother, Earl May.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 8, 2004 in the Nephi North Stake Center, 1125 North 400 East. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi, Utah.
