Alyth Estelle Bigler Howard, age 89, died Apr.
12, 2000, in Bountiful, Utah. She was born Sept. 13,
1910, in Nephi, Utah, to Abner Tranter and Ruby McPherson
Bigler. The family moved to Silver City, Juab County,
when she was 10 years old. She graduated from Tintic High
School and attended Henager Business School.
Alyth married Mat Maurice Howard, Sept. 1, 1933, in
Silver City. He passed away July 25, 1973. They made
their home in Nephi. She was active in the LDS Church and
served in the California Anaheim Mission in 1984. She had
also served as a temple worker in the Manti LDS Temple.
She was a member of the Women's Republican Club, Ladies
Literary Club and helped with the Nephi Municipal Rose
Garden. In 1996 she moved to Bountiful to live with her
daughter, Pat Snell.
She is survived by her children, Dixie (Richard)
Mitchell of American Fork, Patsy (Darwin) Snell of
Bountiful, George (Beth Olcott) Howard of Kaysville, and
Bruce (Nadene Webb) Howard of Ocala, Florida; 13
grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; brother, Mac
(Lucille) Bigler of Eureka; sisters, Effie Bell of Salt
Lake City, Elizabeth Robinnette of Copperton, Ruby (Dean)
Manson of Salt Lake City, and Alice O'Connor of Las
Vegas, Nevada. She was preceded in death by a daughter,
Ruby Jean Howard and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Apr. 17, 2000, at the
Bountiful LDS 53rd Ward Chapel. Interment in the Vine
Bluff Cemetery, Nephi, Utah.
