  • Council approves property recommendations passed on from planning commission

The agenda for the city planning commission was a large one and several property recommendations were passed on for council action.

“This was one of the largest agendas I have seen,” said Seth Atkinson, city administrator.

Two of those pieces of business were the Final Plan Approval for the Nebo South Business Complex and Canyon Hills--Plat “A.”

“This is the final plat for the Nebo South Business Complex commercial subdivision in south Nephi,” said Atkinson. “It consists of seven lots.”

It is a complex, he said, with open lots that will be ready for building.

The property is located west of Main Street and north of Sheep Lane. The railroad tracks are on the west, so the property is sandwiched between Main Street and the railroad tracks on the south end of the community.

“Lot number one is a large lot,” Atkinson said.

The owner, Atkinson said, had indicated that the lot might be used for a business selling camp trailers and other items of that sort. It could be used for a variety of sales items and that would depend on who was interested.

The owner/developer is Korey Wright.

“It sounds like a good thing to me,” said Skip Worwood, council member.

Nathan Memmott, council member, made the motion to approve the final plan for the commercial subdivision. Worwood make the second and all present voted in favor.

Another one of the several pieces of business passed to the city council by the city planning commission was a request for approval for the Canyon Hills Subdivision.

Bart Jackson is the owner developer of Plat A for Canyon Hills Subdivision where the new Baptist church stands. He and Carmen Jackson are the trustees of the Carmen M. Jackson Trust.

The church is located along the 700 North Street and is built on 3.3 acres of land.

The Canyon Hills Subdivision is conveying to the city, as part of the subdivision dedication, all streets and walkways that are to be used as public thoroughfares and also the strips of property needed as easements for public utility purposes. Larry Ostler, city council member, made the motion to give approval to the subdivision located on 700 North Street and Nathan Memmott, council member, made the second. All present voted to approve.
