Richard L. Sayers
1943 ~ 2017
Richard L Sayers passed away peacefully February 25, 2017, in Nephi, Utah surrounded by the love of his family.
He was born June 18, 1943 in Whittier, CA to Leon and Goldie Sayers. As a child he loved the sunny skies of California, including the beach. This is where he developed his love of sports that eventually lead to him earning a football scholarship at Chaffey Junior College, upon graduating from Corona High in 1961. Shortly after, he decided to serve his country by joining the Army in 1962, where he served overseas in Turkey. After an honorable discharge in 1965, he returned home to his family, and started his career for Sandy City in 1978. He was beloved by his co-workers until his retirement in 2008.
Richard met the love of his life in 1980, the beautiful Renee Aldous. They wed on November 17, 1984 in Midvale.
He embodied the outdoors by being an avid outdoorsman. He found his love for the wild in Utah, where he had a great respect for the mountains and the beautiful rivers that it had to offer. He loved watching his grandkids play ball, and teaching them to fish, where his patience was always tested. Richard had an infectious personality that always drew you in. There was never a dull moment if you were lucky enough to be around him, and he always seemed to know how to brighten a bad day. A great man, he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Rodger and Carol, and his daughter Lane Sayers. Survived by his wife Renee, sister Diane Sayers, sons Chad and Russ, daughters Gale (RJ Bryan), and Mara, grandchildren Talon, Brier, Alex, Devin, Zayne, and Gracie Lane.
