QUIET SIDE OF THE DUNES • Local riders know where to go to avoid the crowds.
With Easter coming in March this year, the weather was a big factor. March often includes more snow or rain. This year, the sky way clear and sunny and the temperatures were mild.
There is a side to Little Sahara, well known to locals, which gives visitors a chance to avoid the crowds. News reports give an overview of the activities at Sand Mountain. Many times these reports include over-crowding, noise, dust, rowdy behavior, and injuries.
Away from the popular sites, there exists dirt roads, camping and seclusion. Families are still able to camp, hide Easter eggs, and enjoy a little sand and grit in their potato salad.
Grocery shopping at Mt. Nebo Market offered a challenge for locals; lines at the checkout were very long.
Juab County offers a variety of outdoor recreation; ATVs at Little Sahara, fishing and boating at Yuba, hiking on Mt. Nebo, and much more.
Hopefully, the out-of-town visitors will return to enjoy more of what Juab has to offer. |
