  • Seven to compete for Miss Nephi 2007


The 2007 Miss Nephi Pageant will be held Saturday, March 24, at 7:30 p.m. in the Juab Junior High School Auditorium. The program will be co-hosted by Miss Utah Katie Millar and Miss Nephi 2006 Katelyn Peterson. Seven contestants will vie for the title of Miss Nephi 2007. The new royalty will represent Nephi at parades around Utah and at local celebrations. Admission is $4.00 for adults, $2.00 for children (3 and up), under 2 is free.

Kara Menlove is the daughter of Neal and Terry Menlove. She will perform a piano solo "Lane's Theme." Her community involvement includes helping in several classroom at the elementary school. She helped students with reading, times tables, flash cards and activities during Dr. Seuss Week. She plans to attend Southern Utah University in the Pre Sports Medicine program.

Brittney Bright is the daughter of Kevin and Sabrina Bright. She will be singing "Cowboy Take Me Away" by the Dixie Chicks. Her community involvement includes singing for many charities, teaching singing lessons for free, and cleaning up local parks. She is currently attending Stradford Career Institute for a degree in Forensic Science.

Krystal Thorpe is the daughter of Kurk and Andrea Thorpe. She will play "Into the West"by Howard Shore on the flute. Her community involvement includes helping out with the Sub For Santa program and the bridge project at the school. She helped tie quilts for the humanitarian project. She plans to go to college to study Interior Design.

Shuree Fulton is the daughter of Todd and Nellie Fulton. She will perform a jazz dance. Her community involvement includes working with the Mini Drill team, relief walk, and painted hop-scotch and 4-square for the elementary school playground. She plans to attend Utah Valley State College.

Marina Orme is the daughter of Alden and Lisa Orme. She will play "Largo and Allegro" by Georg Telemenn of the flute. Her community involvement includes serving as 4-H Teen Council president, 4-H activities, helped with Science Day at Nebo View Elementary for the past 2 years, decorated, planned activities and performed for Heritage Hills Care Center, and conducted a car wash to raise money for the Children's Resource Center.

Janelle Lund is the daughter of Allan and Lynn Lund. She will play "Raging Storm" by Melody Bober on the piano. Her community involvement include helping with the Science Day at Nebo View Elementary, and teaching dancing to 2nd and 4th grade students. She plans to attend college ad get a degree in Pharmacy and Chemistry.

Whitney Lundell is the daughter of Gary and Leanna Lundell. She will play "Maple Leaf Rag" by Scott Joplin on the piano. He community involvement includes planning and teaching a "Fit to be Happy" program to girls, was an assistant coach for drill team and basketball team, involved in 4-H Teen Council and cooking clinic. She plans to attend college and study Sports Medicine.
