The sewer system line into the county fairgrounds will
become a reality soon.
Val Jones, Juab County Commission Chairman, said that
the project was now possible because the state had approved
the project.
"We have the pipe," said Jones. "We purchased that
last year."
This year, he said, the county was purchasing the
manhole covers.
"It will cost us $90,000 just in materials," said
Jones.
The system will be on its own line which is slated to
travel from the sewer lagoons north west of Nephi across
property the county recently purchased. It will follow the
utilities corridor along roadways. It will then go to 100
North Street (in that section of town it is also State Road
132) and into the fairgrounds.
"It will be its own line," said Jones.
To date there are no other connections but that will,
most likely, change as homes along the way are permitted.
That permitting must come from Nephi City as the sewer
system is owned by Nephi.
"It is their system and we are just connecting to it,"
said Jones.
He said Nephi City would assign two men to work on the
project and the county will provide equipment and manpower
as well.
"We did get out permits from the state and now the
long-hoped for system can be built," he said.
He said the system would be a big improvement to the
county fairgrounds because the septic system now being used
is not always capable of handling the large volume of sewage
when there are huge events at the fairgrounds.
"This project should make it better for everyone who
uses or visits the fairgrounds," said Jones.
