A truck stolen from the Mona Assent Boy's Home,
located on old highway 91, was recovered the next day.
Alden Orme, Juab County Sheriff, said the truck was
taken from an employee. the incident was reported at 12 noon
on March 10.
The pickup truck was stolen by a juvenile who was
being housed at the facility for troubled youth.
"The employee had a gun, a .22 caliber revolver, in
the vehicle when it was taken," said Orme. "While the Dodge
pickup was recovered, the gun was not recovered."
The juvenile resident of the home was also not found.
Orme said he thinks the boy will be located fairly soon
since a description of him has been distributed to law
enforcement officers. A warrant has also been issued for the
arrest of the juvenile.
"The pickup was recovered in West Valley city by that
police department," said Orme.
He said the employee, whose name is not being
released, reported that the truck had suffered more than
$1,800 in damage.
"I would like to warn people not to leave guns in
their vehicles," said Orme. "They are in high demand among
thieves. Guns should be taken into the home of the owner and
locked up, Guns should also be kept in a gun safe of some
kind so that they are not accessible to kids."
