Former co-publisher and editor of The Times-News, Vance P. Gibson of Kaysville, Utah, died on Sunday, March 13, in the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City from heart failure after undergoing multiple coronary bypass surgery. Gibson, age 55, was currently a resident of Kaysville. He and his brother, current publisher, Allan R. Gibson bought the paper when his father, Roy E. Gibson retired in 1976. He served as the paper's editor and co-publisher until 1993 when he sold his interest to Allan and pursued other interests in Logan. During his tenure as editor, the paper won many awards in the Better Newspaper Contest of the Utah Press Association. He moved to Kaysville in 2002 when his wife Sonya took a job as a teacher with the Davis County School District. His health had prevented him from working during the last few years. |
