Ches Williams
George Wesley (Ches) Williams, age 84, passed away
February 28, 2004 in Nephi, Utah.
He was born May 19, 1919 in Nephi to Edward Henry and
Mildred Shettle Williams. He married Margaret Tolley March
14, 1946 in the Manti LDS Temple.
He served in the Armed Forces from Sept. 1941 to
Sept.1945, serving in the South Pacific. He operated Garrett
Service and was employed by Pexton Wholesale, Parkin Motor,
Painter Motor and was Co-owner of Greenwood-Williams
Chevrolet. He served for many years on the City Council and
was officer and committee member of the Ute Stampede
Association for many years. He was a member of the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many
leadership positions.
He is survived by his wife Margaret of Nephi; four
daughters, Cheryl (Dennis) Peterson of West Jordan, Marian
(Bryce) Lynn of Mona, Gayle (Calvin) Wright of Nephi,
Barbara (Dennis) Jensen of Salem; 20 grandchildren; and 33
great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert R. Williams of Orem,
Morgan Williams of San Diego, California; sister, Norda
Rosenlof of Mt. Pleasant. He was preceded in death by his
parents; 3 brothers, LaMar, Darwin and Jude; 2
grandchildren, Lynette Lynn and Chase Wright.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday,
March 3, 2004 in the Nephi Stake Center, 351 North 100 West.
Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the
services. Interment in the Nephi City Cemetery.
Gary Allan
Gary Reed Allan, age 62, passed away February 26, 2004 at
his home in Nephi, Utah. He was born November 12, 1941 in
Springville, Utah, to Lee Merle and Madge Evans Allan.
Gary grew up in Fountain Green, Utah. He joined the
U.S. Navy at age 16 and served 9 years with a tour of duty
in Viet Nam. He worked many years for General Electric as a
machinist. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and
gardening and was a member of the LDS church. He was married
3 times and was preceded in death by his 3rd wife, Joyce;
his parents and brother, Joe.
He is survived by his sisters and brothers, Myrleen
(Harold) Liddiard of Nephi, Pat Capps of Salt Lake City,
Dean Allan of Seattle, Washington, Rick (SueLynn) of Spring
City, and Kent Allan of Fountain Green.
Graveside services were held March 1, 2004 at Vine
Bluff Cemetery, Nephi.
Glen Rasmussen
Glen R Rasmussen passed away February 24, 2004 at the
home of his son at the age of 90. Glen was born September 1,
1913 in Chester, Utah, to Andy Jost and Weltha Ann Draper
Rasmussen. He has two brothers, Sherm and Lloyd who preceded
him in death, and one surviving sister Joy. He married
Valene Sorensen on May 21, 1937 in Provo, Utah. The marriage
was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple May 18,
1950.
Glen attended high school in Moroni and was a member
of the basketball team that participated in the state
tournament his senior year. Glen was a farmer, turkey
grower, and a lineman for Utah Power & Light. After his
retirement from the power company, he continued to raise
turkeys and was a member of the board and an officer of the
Moroni Pasture, and Moroni Irrigation Companies and
participated in many improvements in those organizations.
Glen was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints and served in the Elders Quorum and High
Priest Quorums in Moroni. He lived in Moroni until his
health made it necessary to reside with his son in Bountiful
the last 3 years of his life.
He is survived by one son, Robert Glen (Joyce) of
Bountiful; and one sister, Joy Howell of Nephi; two
grandsons ; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services were held in the Moroni Stake Center
on March 1, 2004. Burial was in the Moroni City
Cemetery.
