  • Jamie Jones crowned Miss Nephi 2002


The Miss Nephi 2002 Pageant was held Tuesday, March 19. The new Miss Nephi and her Attendants are Jamie Jones, daughter of Mike and Ann Jones; Megan Jones, daughter of Russ and Diane Jones; Amber Cragun, daughter of Richard and Gay Hansen, and Don and Tammy Cragun; and McKayla Brough, daughter of Chad and Lisa Brough.

The new Miss Nephi played a piano solo, "Seagulls" by Margarete Goldston for her talent presentation. Megan Jones played a piano solo, "Hungary Rhapsodie Mignonne" by Carl Koelling; Amber Cragun presented a jazz dance routine to "Shanty" by Madonna; and McKayla Brough played a piano solo, "Puck" by Greig.

Other awards included: Community Involvement Award, Amber Cragun; Photogenic, Jamie Jones; Evening Gown, McKayla Brough; Talent, Selena Sutherland; Casual Attire, Cassie Winn; Personality, Cathalyn Westfall.

Miss Nephi 2001 Analee Lundell and her 1st Attendant Amanda Sutherland presented special talent numbers.

The Pageant opened with a patriotic salute to Nephi's Heroes. Representatives of the Olympic Torch Relay, Fire Department, Emergency Medical Technicians, and Law Enforcement were welcomed to the stage and presented with medals by Miss Nephi 2001 and the 2002 contestants. Keena Casper sang the National Anthem.

EMT Ann Coombs was presented with an award for service to the community.
