Neil Garrett
Neil Loren Garrett, age 66, passed away due to illness
Mar. 6, 2002, in Nephi, Utah.
He was born Dec. 14, 1935, in Nephi to Loren and Stella
Anderson Garrett. He married Jeneil Greenhalgh and they had
two daughters, Kaylynn and Juli. He married Marilyn G. Lund
on Aug. 23,1968, and added her two boys, Allan and Merrell
to his family. Their early years were spent following the
rodeo circuit where he and Allan had a father-son clown
act.
His love of the outdoors led him to a career as a fishing
guide at Fish Lake. Gun Club members throughout the state
will be missing his sense of humor and stiff competition for
a long time. Neil owned his own painting business where he
worked with his two sons. He had a great love and
appreciation of the outdoors.
Neil leaves behind his wife, Marilyn; children, Kaylynn
(Tim) Christiansen of St. George, Juli (Ken) Friel of
Springville, Allan (Linchee) Lund of Nephi, Merrell Lund of
Nephi; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandsons; mother, Stella
Garrett of Nephi; sister, Jana (Kenny) Hudson of Santaquin.
He was preceded by his father, Loren Garrett.
Funeral services were held Mar. 9, 2002, in the Nephi
Stake Center. Interment will be in the Vine Bluff Cemetery
Nephi, Utah.
Spencer Bowles
Spencer Boyd Bowles, age 59, passed away Mar. 5, 2002, in
Nephi, Utah.
He was born Jan. 23, 1943, in Nephi to Spencer Leo and
Roxie Craig Bowles. He married Joyce Christensen. They were
later divorced.
He enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, riding
horses, playing guitar and prospecting for gold. He served
in the Utah National Guard.
He is survived by his children, Jeffery Bowles and Jacqui
Hinkle; parents, Spencer and Roxie Bowles; sisters, Barbara
Stratton and Donna Kelsey; brother, Bevan Bowles; 8
grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Mar. 8, 2002, at the Anderson
Funeral Home in Nephi. Interment in the Nephi City Cemetery.
Maida Gillett
Maida Ingram Gillett, age 92, of Declo, Idaho, passed
away Mar. 6, 2002, at Alta View Hospital in Sandy, Utah. She
was born July 25, 1909, in Nephi, Utah, the daughter of
Marion Emily Park and John Edward Ingram of Nephi. She was
the youngest of 12 children (five boys and seven girls). She
graduated from Nephi High School and attended beauty school.
She owned and operated a beauty shop in Nephi for five
years.
Maida married Joseph Andreas Gillett on Aug. 30, 1933, in
the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was an active member of the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in Young
Women and Relief Society as well as other capacities.
Together Maida and Joe served in the Anchorage, Alaska
Mission in 1979-81. She worked along side her husband in
Gillett's Market and in the Declo Post Office for many
years.
Maida loved flowers and made beautiful quilts.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph; sons, Gale
(Jolene) Gillett of Declo, Ted (Sharon) Gillett of Paradise,
Dan (Carolyn) Gillett of Declo, David (DelRae) Gillett of
Sandy; daughters, Christine (Veldon) Hill of Nampa, Idaho,
and Diane (James) Toronto of Provo; 34 grandchildren; and 56
great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her
parents; five brothers and six sisters, Maysel Goble,
Birdene Sidwell, Wallace Ingram, Laverne Cowan, Clarence
Ingram, Florin Ingram, Alta Starr, Angus Ingram, Leone
Greenhalgh, Leo Ingram, Lorene Ingram; and one
granddaughter.
Services were held Mar. 11, 2002, in the Declo, Idaho
Stake Center. Interment at the Declo City Cemetery.
Marvin Sego
Marvin Albert Sego, age 88, passed away Mar. 6, 2002, at
his home. Marvin was born Aug. 29, 1913, in Manassa,
Colorado, to John Wilson Sego and Mary Eda Rogers. He grew
up and attended school in Manassa.
He married Jesse Lee Lakey on Feb. 15, 1935, in Hemphill,
Texas, they were later divorced. He married Rosalie Josie on
May 2, 1991, in Reno, Nevada. Their marriage was later
solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. He spent many years as a
jeweler in Salt Lake City, where he worked for Schubach
Jewelers for 15 years. He enjoyed telling stories and jokes,
traveling and camping and dancing. He is an active member of
the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; he served
as a stake missionary. He earned the Republican Senatorial
Medal of Freedom and membership in the Republican Senatorial
Inner Circle from the state of Utah.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Rosalie of 11 years; his
children, Kenneth, Leenita, Eda and Richard; step-children,
Carl, Gloria, Jerry, Johnny and Casey; many grandchildren
and great-grandchildren; brothers, Boyd and Russell; and
sister, Mabel. He was preceded in death by a son, Lloyd; a
daughter, Sandra; his parents; four sisters; and three
brothers.
Funeral services were held Mar. 9, 2002, at the Hurricane
Utah Stake Center. Interment at the Hurricane City
Cemetery.
