Neal O. Morris
1949 ~ 2019

Neal O Morris returned to his Father in Heaven on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 of Parkinson’s and Lewy Body Dementia. He was at his home surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Neal was a cherished son of William Ormond and Rae Nola Baker Morris. He was born on July 31, 1949 in Milford, Utah.

Neal was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He married the love of his life, Sherian Alice Smith on June 9, 1972. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George Temple on June 25, 1977.

Neal and Sherian are the parents of six children: Chad (Melissa) Lambourne, Andrea (Steve) Marwadel, Jason Lambourne, Jody O (Belinda) Morris, Matthew (Melissa) Morris, and Sherida Morris. They are the proud grandparents of 20 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Neal served in the Army Reserve for 23 years; he retired as 1st sergeant of his unit. He worked at Geneva Steel for 30 years, retired from there as an Electronic Technician. He also worked at the Nephi Rubber Plant for 7 years as an electrician.

Neal loved his family and was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed serving others. He was tender-hearted, compassionate and had many ways of serving his Heavenly Father and Savior in this life. He was well known for his tender, sweet, and spiritual characteristics. Neal loved to be outdoors camping, fishing, and deer hunting with his boys. He loved hiking to Lone Peak and had a passionate hobby for fixing things. He was extremely particular about doing a good job!

Neal served Family History mission with his beloved wife for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved being the only son in his family and spoiled by his five sisters.

He is survived by his wife, five children, grandchildren, and three sisters: Karen (Glen) Foster, DellaRae (Francis) Anderson, Valorie (Gary) Lund and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Matthew, two sisters Carlene (Dan) Jepperson, Roena (John) Stevens and brother in law Francis Anderson.

Services were held Saturday, February 9, 2019 in the Nephi 12th Ward Building (351 N 100 W). Interment with military honors was held directly after the services.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Central Valley Hospice for their love and caring ways to Neal and his family at this very difficult time.


Sherri Lynn Wilcox Jarrett
1949 ~ 2019

Sherri Lynn Wilcox Jarrett, age 69, passed away February 8, 2019 in Nephi, Utah.

She was born March 19, 1949 to Fredrick and Althea Wilcox.

Mom married Gary twice, the first of those two unions she had Seth, Trena, and James and added two additional with the second with James and Courtney.

Sherri is survived by Gary Jarrett (husband), sisters Connie, Bobbe (Leon), children Seth (Jen), Trena, James (Tory), James (Kaci) and Courtney, 22 grandchildren, as well as 6 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by both parents, brother Larry, her sister Shauna, and grandson Austin.

A viewing was held at Anderson Funeral Home on Tuesday February 12th, 2109 from 10-11 am followed by a graveside service at 11 am at Vine Bluff Cemetery.


Rula Yearsley Gowers
1918 ~ 2019

Rula Yearsley Gowers passed away peacefully on February 8, 2019 at the age of 100. Born in Malad, Idaho on March 23, 1918 to Nathan Melvin Yearsley and Josephine Jones Yearsley, Rula attended grade school in St. John, Idaho and high school in Malad. After graduation she continued her education at the Collegiate Beauty School in Logan, Utah. In Logan she met Don Gowers who was attending Utah State Agricultural College. Rula and Don were married November 29, 1943 in the Logan LDS Temple.

Their first child, Marion, was born while Don served in World War II. When her husband returned, Rula and Don moved to his hometown of Nephi, Utah. There two more children joined their family, Clyde and Deltha. While her children were young Rula used her beauty school skills to keep their hair curled and cut. She later worked part time at Christensen’s/Brinkerhoff’s Department store. When the store closed its business in Nephi, she had more time to sew, can fruit and to grow beautiful flowers.

Rula loved music, having learned to play the piano and sing while she was young. She used her musical talents in her callings as Junior Sunday School / Primary chorister and/or pianist for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in her ward for many years. She also served as a Relief Society Chorister, Nephi Stake Music Chairman and as a Church-service Missionary in the Welfare Services Department. Additionally, she sang a strong alto in the ward and stake choirs most of her life.

Rula is survived by her children Marion Watko of Nephi, Clyde (Bonnie) Gowers of South Weber, Deltha (Todd) Nelson of Phoenix, one brother Evan Joyce Yearsley of Orem, 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Don Gowers, her parents, 6 sisters and 1 brother.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 18, 2019 at 11:30 am with a viewing beginning at 10:00 am at the Nephi North Stake Center, 1125 North 400 East, Nephi. Burial at Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi, Utah.
