Christopher Bader
1963 ~ 2018

Long time Nephi resident Christopher (Chris) Lloyd Bader passed away at his home on Monday, January 22, 2018 after a long illness. Chris was born on July 16, 1963 in Canoga Park, California. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 24 years, Jean Marie Bader (June 5, 2017).

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, AJ and Amanda Grantham; daughter Elaina Bader; grandson Gregory Grantham; mother Virginia Savoie Tait; father and stepmother Chris and Judy Bader; sister Linda Brafford; brother Bill Bader; aunt and uncle Dottie and Bob Horn; uncle Ken Savoie and multiple cousins.

Chris was raised in Southern California where he was active in Boy Scouts, Youth Football and Little League. After high school, he moved to Northern California where he worked as a painter and in general construction. He also enjoyed time by the river experiencing a “mostly unprofitable” stint at gold mining.

Chris and Jeannie were married on June 19, 1993 and in 1996, moved to Utah where they settled in Nephi, eventually making their home on South Main Street in the house with the only yard landscaped entirely with gravel.

Chris worked as a finish carpenter and machinist before taking on the hobbies of building furniture from barn wood as well as “bartering”.

He later attended Utah Valley State College and while remaining on the Dean’s List, he acquired his Building Inspector’s License.

His favorite places to visit were in the mountains of Northern California and the Topaz Mountain area of Utah. He also loved spending time with his dogs Pepper, Sissie, Winter and Sofie.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the community of Nephi and especially to the staff at Central Valley Medical Center and Pharmacy for their kindness and support throughout the years.

A private memorial will be held by the family at a later date. Chris took great pride in his son and grandson’s dedication to the Cubs and Boy Scouts and the family is requesting that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Boy Scouts of America.
