Linda Ann Garfield Jones
1942-2010
Dad’s sweetheart and our beloved mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt and friend, Linda Ann Garfield Jones passed away February 18, 2010.
Mom was born January 8, 1942 in Payson, Utah. The daughter of Thomas Leonard Garfield and Ruth Irene Kay. Raised in Mona, Utah. Graduated from Juab High and later beauty school. At the age of 12, while attending the Valentines Day dance, Mom met the love of her life and after several years of Grandpa chasing him off the front porch, mom married our dad, Gordon Andrew Jones, on October 27, 1961 in the Manti temple. They lovingly enjoyed 49 years of marriage.
Mom worked in the banking industry for many years and at the Lion House Pantry after retirement. Mom had a passion for reading, especially while sitting in the bow of the aluminum boat while dad tried to fish. She enjoyed shopping for treasures at the DI, gardening and caring for all stray cats. You could always count on a block of cheese and a box of crackers on the kitchen counter. Mom enjoyed working alongside Dad on the family farm over the past several years. Her greatest joy in life came from her children and grandchildren, whom she loved so dearly.
Survived by her husband, Gordon, three children, Cheryl (Byron), Scott (Bonnie), and Jason (Bobbie); ten grandchildren, one great-grand daughter; sister Pat (Bill), brother Tom (Mary), sisters-in-law, Melba (Jerry), Barbara (Larry), Darlene (Clair) and Dorothy. Preceded in death by both parents, step-father Earl and brother Dale.
The family would like to express our deep appreciation to all those who have assisted Mom and Dad over the past few days, especially our new friends, Kevin, Larry and Jorge who have touched our lives so deeply.
Funeral arrangements are pending, visit www.russonmortuary.com for updates.
