Homer Christensen
1926~2007
Willis Homer Christensen, age 80, passed away
February 13, 2007 in Nephi, Utah.
He was born May 28, 1926 in Levan, Utah to James
Peter and Vera Mangleson Christensen. He married Delora
Carter June 12, 1953 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Marriage was
later solemnized in the Manti Temple May 5, 1962.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-Day Saints serving in many callings. He served as the
Mona Ward finance clerk for 15 years. He ran the Phillips 66
gas station in Mona for 10 years. He retired from Nephi
Rubber Products after 30 years. He liked the outdoors,
hunting and fishing. He enjoyed being a snowbird in St.
George and Yuma in their 5th wheel trailer. He was member of
the Lions Club and Good Sam's Club.
He is survived by his wife Delora of Mona; sons,
Scott (LuAnn) Christensen of West
Valley, UT; Tracy (Karen) Christensen of Manti, UT; six
grandchildren; brothers, Dennis (Loraine) Christensen of
Rowland Heights, CA; Wesley (Nola) Christensen of Nephi, UT;
Ross (Duretta) Christensen of Albany, OR; Von (Carolyn)
Christensen of Sandy, UT. Preceded in death by a brother,
Vance and sister, Elaine; granddaughter, Kylee Christensen,
who died Feb. 13, 2007 the same day as grandpa.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 17,
2007 in the Mona LDS Chapel. Interment was in the Mona
Cemetery.
Edith Monroe
1926~2007
Edith Ione Memmott Monroe passed away Feb. 15, 2007 at
her home in Scipio, Utah after a lengthy illness. She is the
daughter of Angus and Ina Peterson Memmott, born January 28,
1926 in the old rock house in Scipio. She married Neil O.
Monroe in 1947. They are survived by their 4 children; Ray
Neil (Amy) Monroe of Orem, Utah; Diana (Tucker) Conley of
Marshall, Texas; Jerris (Melvin) Bennett of Vernal, Utah;
and Melanie (Jim) Dolan of Nephi, Utah. Edith and Neil have
22 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
Edith was preceded in death by her husband Neil,
brothers, Lon and Ed, and sisters, Florence Robins and
Maxine Robins.
Edith was a devoted wife and mother. She served in
various church positions; in the Primary as a teacher, and
in the presidency; a visiting teacher, librarian, and in the
Junior Sunday School.
Her life was a legacy of love, tenderness and service to
her family and others. She loved taking meals to new mothers
and always was there to help when new grandchildren were
born, at the time of illness and to lend a helping hand on
moving day. She loved to be at home surrounded by
family.
Funeral services will be at The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints, Scipio Chapel, Friday, Feb. 23, 2007, at
12 noon with Bishop Mark Monroe presiding. The viewing for
family and friends will begin at 10:30 a.m. She will be laid
to rest in the beautiful Scipio Cemetery.
Mary A. Snow Morris
1933~2007
Mary Ann Snow Morris, age 73, loving wife, mother,
grandmother, and sister passed away February 16, 2007 in
Provo, Utah.
She was born August 18, 1933 in Salt lake City,
Utah to John Harold Workman and Elizabeth Jackson Snow. She
married Earl Edward Morris February 9, 1974 in Elko,
Nevada.
Mary will be truly missed by all who knew her. She
was a wonderful person who was always there when someone was
in need of help or a place to live. Mary was such a hard
worker, yet always had time for family and friends. She
loved camping, boating, fishing, and would always have big
yard parties with family and friends. She was a wonderful
mother and taught her children well. She had some real hard
times in her life, but always managed to get through them.
She has now returned to her Father in Heaven and many family
members. May she rest in peace.
She is survived by her husband, Earl Morris of
Nephi, UT; daughter, Mary Elizabeth of Texas: three
sons, Earl (Wanda) Fashion; Mike Fashion, and Kevin
(Shirley) Morris; sisters, Jackie Snow Idom, Donna Snow
(Verl) Chidester, and Alice Snow Workmen Barney; 21
grandchildren, 32 great great grandchildren, and one
great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by both
parents; sons, Bobby Jo Welcher, Bill Welcher, Berry Morris,
and Ronnie Morris; daughter, Terry Lee Joslin; sister, Betty
J. Snow Simmons; brothers, Jay O. Snow, Robert C. Snow,
Johnny Snow, and three brothers-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday,
February 21, 2007 in the Nephi North Stake Center, 1125 N.
400 E. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the
services. The interment will be in the Nephi Vine Bluff
Cemetery.
