Vernon E. Carter
1935-2007
Vernon Elmont Carter, of Carpenterville, Illinois, the
first-born of George Elmont and Lucille G. Carter quietly
left this earthly life on the morning of February 9,
2007.
Vernon was born in Nephi, Utah, on November 5th, 1935.
He was raised in Nephi among Grandparents, Parents, Uncles,
Aunts and additional family members, Friends and associates
of the entire community. Vernon received his High School
education at the Juab County High School where he excelled
in most areas. He was an active participant in the school's
drama productions and the sports activities. Vernon's
outgoing demeanor and personality endeared him to all who
had the opportunity to come in contact with him. Vernon
joined the United States Army in 1953 and perused a military
career spanning more than twenty years. In his assignments,
he traveled numerous times to the Far East including Korea,
Japan, Okinawa, and Vietnam. Throughout his service he was
recognized many times for outstanding service and valor in
performing his duties. Upon his retirement from the military
service Vernon made his home in Carpenterville,
Illinois.
Vernon is survived by his wife Lorraine; her
daughters, Chyaire Earwin, Ciera Young and grandson Marcus
from Carpenterville IL. His children, Rebecca Provost, San
Ramon, CA, Jeff Carter, Denver, CO. and Patrick Carter,
Marina, CA. Grandchildren, Melissa, Laura, James, Alexandra
and Abigail. Five brothers, Robert, Herb, Clyde, Randy, Hal
and one sister Lila Mae Steele.
Services will be held on Thursday, February 15th, 2007
and interment will follow in the Nephi City Cemetery.
