John Gayle Yorgason
1916-2006
We are pleased to announce the passing of our beloved
husband and father, John Gayle Yorgason, 89, who, after
waiting patiently for fifty-five years, is reunited at long
last with the wife and sweetheart of his youth, Beatrice
Copley. Gayle was born in Fountain Green, Utah, on 24
September 1916, to Hyrum Vincent and Ida Pernella Andersen
Yorgason and married Beatrice on 31 July 1941. Following her
untimely passing he married her younger sister, Lucy Copley,
on 9 January 1952, and they have shared together the past
fifty-four years. He was released peacefully from this
anxious world on 26 January 2006.
Gayle was a remarkably humble man; an avid reader and
self-educated, overflowing with both knowledge and wisdom;
wealthy but not with worldly gain; unfailingly patient and
happy even in pain and adversity; friendly and kind to all
who came near; and wholeheartedly devoted to He whom he
adored and served, the Lord Jesus Christ.
He was loved and honored by his children and
grandchildren, cherished by each of his wives, and revered
by the many hundreds who have received under his kindly
patriarchal hands, divinely inspired counsel and prophetic
promises.
He will be missed by all, but at the same time we give
thanks and rejoice in his new-found happiness and peace.
Gayle is survived by his wife Lucy and his children,
Marilyn (Ron Eliston), Gary (deceased) (Teresa), Blaine
(Kathy), Judy Ostermiller, Brenton (Margaret), Valerie
(Edward Platt), and Gregory (Kristine).
