Floyd Douglas

Floyd Merle Douglas, age 83, passed away Feb. 9, 2001, in Nephi, Utah.

He was born Dec. 27, 1917, in Axtel, Utah, to Joseph Ferrel and Flora Beatrice Beagley Douglas. He married Ina Howarth Nov. 29, 1940, in Provo, Utah.

He graduated from Juab High School in 1936 and since that time has lived in Nevada and California, until retiring to Utah in 1977.

He is survived by his wife, Ina, of Nephi; sons, Richard Floyd (Jeannie) of Twentynine Palms, California, Michael David (Sherrie) of Salt Lake City, and Allan Craig (Lynette) of North Hollywood, California; 18 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren; and sister, Leah (Duff) Anderson of Vernal. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Melva and Shirlene; brother, Robert Rue and one grandchild.

Funeral services will he held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (today), Feb. 14, 2001, at the Nephi LDS 4th Ward, 400 East 1125 North. Viewing will be one hour prior to the services at the Church. Burial will be in Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi, Utah.


Ray Fowkes

Ray D. "Tug" Fowkes, age 77, passed away Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001, at his home.

He was, born Feb. 9, 1923, in Starr, Utah, to Heber J. and Ruby Downs Fowkes. Ray married Elaine Wilson Sept. 23, 1944, in Starr. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple, Apr. 6, 1963.

Ray was raised and educated in Nephi. He graduated from Juab High School and attended Weber State University. He lived in Brigham City, Tremonton, and in North Ogden for the past 40 years.

He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. Ray was a charter member of the Nephi Lions Club, President of the Ute Stampede, and President of the Bear River Cutter Racing Association. He liked boxing, horses, cutter racing, hunting and rodeos.

Surviving are his wife of North Ogden; two sons, Dennis L. Fowkes of Roy, and Kevin Heber (Brenda) Fowkes of Beaver Dam; two daughters, Margo R. (Fred) Treece of Gilbert, Arizona, and Teresa D. (Ron) Anderson of Layton; ten grandchildren, and eight greatgrandchildren; one brother, John W. Fowkes of Salt Lake City; three sisters, Mabel Kay of Mona, Melba Cowan of Layton, and Bessie Jones of Nephi. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Loren and Gerald, three sisters, lone, Donna, and Alice.

Funeral services were held Feb. 12, 2001, at the North Ogden LDS 2nd Ward Chapel. Interment in North Ogden Cemetery.


Fredrick Lynn

Fredrick Moroni Lynn, age 90, passed away Feb. 8, 2001 in Nephi, Utah.

He was born Apr. 19, 1910, in Mona, Utah, to James Albert and Alice Permila Yates Lynn. He married Viola Patricia Kay Dec. 23, 1931, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She passed away March 24, 1999.

Fred attended schools in Mona, Eureka, and Nephi. He worked several years in Eureka as a miner and later in Mona as a farmer, and building contractor. He was a member of the LDS Church and served in many callings. He served a church building mission in New Zealand and Hawaii from 1961-1964 and then again later from 1969-1972 in Western Samoa. He worked for the LDS Church for several years as a Building Superintendent.. He was a temple worker in the Manti and Provo Temples.

He is survived by his children, Kenneth (Dorla) Lynn of St. George, Gayle (Gordon) Linton of Hacienda Heights, California, Wesley (Gayle) Lynn of Nephi, LaRue Lynn, Bryce (Marian) Lynn, and Brett (Tammy) Lynn, all of Mona; 30 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Kirk Lynn; sisters and brother, Floy, Albertis, and Beldon.

Funeral services were held Feb. 12, 2001, in the Mona LDS Chapel. Burial in the Mona Cemetery.


Ryan Houchin

Ryan Coleman Houchin, age 17, passed away Feb. 11, 2001, at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah.

He was born Dec. 11, 1983, in Deadwood, South Dakota. to Dan and Cindy Houchin.

Ryan loved the outdoors, 4-wheeling, hiking, camping, listening to music, writing poetry, and crocheting.

Ryan is survived by his parents, Dan and Cindy, of Mona; 4 sisters, DeLona Peek, Melissa Magelky, and Amanda Houchin, all of Nephi, and Sharonna Peterson of Payson; and 2 brothers, Jeremiah Houchin of Salt Lake City, and Nathaniel Houchin of Piedmont, South Dakota.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at 11:00 a.m. at the Mona LDS Ward Church. Viewing will be Thursday, Feb. 15, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Nephi, and one hour prior to services at the church.
