Howard Taylor
Howard W. Taylor, age 79, passed away Jan. 30, 2001, in
Provo, Utah.
He was born April 1, 1921, in Levan, Utah, to Schuyler P.
and Ane Christine Winter Taylor. He married Myrtle Warner
June 4, 1945, in the Manti LDS Temple.
He retired from NRP after working there for 37 years. He
was an active member of the LDS Church. He had a love for
Scouting and served on the troop committee for many years
and was Assistant Scoutmaster. He helped many boys with
their Eagle projects and merit badges.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle, of Nephi; four
children, Frances Taylor, Laurel Taylor, and Alan (Mary-Ann
C.) Taylor, all of Nephi, and Karen (Robert) Faubus of
Provo; 6 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild; sister, Fern
(Marion) Wankier of Levan; brothers, Heber Taylor of Levan,
and Lee (Marcia) Taylor of Monie, Illinois. He was preceded
in death by his parents, one brother, Rex and sister-in-law,
Venesse Taylor.
A short informal service was held Feb. 2, 2001. Burial in
Nephi City Cemetery.
Mathew Daley
Mathew LeRoy Daley, age 86, of Ivins, Utah, died Jan. 26,
2001, at the home of his son, Richard, in Elkhart, Indiana,
after an extended illness.
Mathew was born in Payson, Utah, on June 16, 1914, the
last son of Graham L. and Margaret (Simonds) Daley. He
married Mildred Ruth Bush on March 9, 1934, in Grand
Junction, Colorado. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake
LDS Temple.
He was a retired carpenter and member of the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The highlight of his
career was working on the remodeling of the Tabernacle on
Temple Square. He loved gardening and had made his home in
Mona, Utah, recently moving to Ivins.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred; three sons, Douglas
(Gwenda) of Bend, Oregon, Richard B. (Linda) of Elkhart,
Indiana, and Scott W. of Las Vegas, Nevada; six daughters,
Mrs. Val (Mildred) Cowley of Loomis, California, Mrs. Jerry
(Sharon) Marrier of Winthrop, Washington, Mrs. David
(Marcella) Musgrave of Springfield, Missouri, Gale
Cronkhite, and Mrs. Michael (Ruthann) Laghezza, both of
Knoxville, Tennessee, and Mrs. Douglas (Margaret) Holland of
Phoenix, Arizona; 59 grandchildren; numerous
great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Oral (Winona) Wood
of Orem, Mrs. Harold (Mary) Diamond of Mapleton, and Madge
Johnson of Spanish Fork. He was preceded in death by two
daughters, Lois K. Daley and Virginia Shaw; eight brothers,
Harland, Jean, Frank, Charles, Robert, Glen, Chad and Max;
and two sisters, Leonia and Vera Beardall.
Funeral services were held Feb. 3, 2001, at the Hillman
Field Chapel in Payson, Utah. Burial in the Payson Cemetery.
