NEW YEAR’S BABY 2009 • Shay and Robbie Cowan of Nephi are the proud parents of the first baby to be born at Central Valley Medical Center for 2009. The couple arrived at the hospital on Friday, January 2, but the baby wasn’t born until Saturday, January 3 at 8:02 a.m. The baby weighed in at 6 pounds 10 ounces and was 19 inches in length. The new baby boy will be named Lincon Shay Cowan. Lincon will be joined at home by one sister, Saige, who is eight years old. According to Rachelle Benson, Labor and Delivery Manager, “This is always a fun time to have a baby. The staff get excited about the contest and love to participate in any way they can to make it a special event.” The hospital donates a case of diapers, formula, wipes and lotion, along with a $200 discount off the hospital bill. Local businesses, which provided support and donations this year include: Mt. Nebo Market, Family Dollar, Choice Do it Best Hardware, Quality Fitness, Body Works for the Soul, Curves, Subway, Utah Community Credit Union, Wells Fargo Bank, Far West Bank, Nephi Western Credit Union, Mi Rancherito Mexican Restaurant, Lillies & Lace, Nephi Floral, Home & Haven, Nephi Rubber Products, Nebo Leavitt, Lotsa Motsa & Movies Plus, and Mid State Consultants.

SWORN IN FOR FOUR MORE • Juab County Justice of the Peace Sharla Williams swore in Val Jones for four more years at a Juab County Commissioner on Monday. Jones will continue as Commission Chair.
