- Mona City swears in new Council members

D. Cody Adams, Frank Riding, Gordon Anderson, were sworn-in for four-year terms at Mona City Council meeting on Tuesday.
The council members were given the oath of office by Lyla R. Spencer, city clerk and recorder.
Anderson is the lone incumbent and will be serving his second four-year term.
Rory L. Nielson, who was not re-elected, and Cory Squire, who did not seek re-election, were present at the beginning of the meeting to verify and vote on minutes from the last meeting prior to the new council being sworn-in and taking their places on the council.
New assignments for the coming year were made by Mayor Bryce Lynn.
In addition, Lynn said he was making a change on the city planning commission board. He will be removing Kerry Lynn from his appointment.
“I am appointing Rory Neilson to the board,” he said.
Philip Bandley will now the council liaison with the planning and zoning commission. Those jobs were the responsibility of Neilson.
Adams will take over the responsibilities once held by Bandley and will represent the city on the JRDA board and will be over the city natural gas and solid waste disposal departments.
Franks will take over the jobs once held by Anderson and will head the city recreation and celebrations. He will also be over city beautification, parks and cemetery and the city office.
Anderson will now head the water and sewer departments, responsibilities once under the leadership of Squire. Anderson has been the council member investigating the possibility of developing a sewer system for the city.
Harry Newell will continue with the responsibilities of animal control, electrical, public safety and roads. He will continue to serve as mayor pro tem.
Lynn will retain his responsibility over the budget, building construction and housing, the liaison with the attorney and personnel.
“The city staff will remain the same,” said Lynn.
Mark Kay is the animal control officer; Jeff Boyd, the building official/building inspector; Ron Veater, the cemetery sexton and parks superintendent; Lynn Ingram, the planning commission administrator and chairman; Lori Elbert, the planning commission secretary; Lyla Spencer, the clerk/recorder; Michelle Dalton, secretary/treasurer; Everd Squire, director of finance; and Allen Pay, water master.
