Steven Anderson
1947-2006
Steven Walter Anderson, age 58, of Nephi, passed away
peacefully at home on Thursday, January 5, 2006. He was born
September 7, 1947 in Payson, Utah, a son of Andy Lee and
Bettie Anderson. He married Myrtle Elizabeth Moore April 16,
1981 in Ely, Nevada. She passed away April 22, 1999.
He was employed in the construction business as an
operator for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and
panning for gold. He thoroughly enjoyed being outdoors and
on drives through the mountain canyons.
Survivors include: two stepsons, Robert (Catina)
Conner, Wayne Eugene Conner; two sisters and one brother,
Susan Davis, Mary (Larry) Higginson, Andy (Beverly)
Anderson, all of Nephi. He was preceded in death by his
parents and spouse.
Graveside services were held Monday, January 9, 2006,
11:00 am at Vine Bluff Cemetery, 1110 North 400 East, Nephi,
Utah.
The family express appreciation to the Juab County
Ambulance, Nephi City Police, and Central Valley Medical
Center.
Ann Wilson
1951-2006
Ann Cowan Wilson, age 54, passed away on Saturday,
January 7, 2006 in Goshen, Utah.
She was born June 15, 1951 in Spring Lake, Utah, to
Albert Cowan and Alzeda Marie Russell. She married George
Strong on June 15, 2004 in Payson, Utah.
While growing up in Spring Lake, her family farmed and
raised cattle. They moved to Nephi, Utah, in 1964, where she
attended and graduated from Juab High School in 1969. Ann
also attended and graduated from UTC in 1971, with an
Associate degree in business. She worked as a Real Estate
Agent for several years and then began working for UDOT.
During that time she worked on several major construction
projects including Provo Canyon, the I-15 upgrade and
several highways out toward Vernal. After 20 years with
UDOT, she restarted her Real Estate business and was very
successful. In 2005 she was the 4th most successful closing
agent in her office of 60 agents.
Ann loved horseback riding. She raced her horse
"Queen" in barrel races. She also owned horses, "Morgan" and
"Gambler Joe". She had an excellent memory for people she
met. She cared deeply for others and was quick to love. She
strove to make peace, to understand others and make them
more comfortable.
Survived by three sons, Tom (Ruth) Spotten of Provo,
UT; Dan (Sheila) Spotten of Chattanooga, TN; William "Will"
Spotten of Ephraim, UT; husband, George Strong of Goshen,
UT; 4 grandchildren; sisters, Sheryl Smith and Carol
Houghton; brother, John Cowan. Preceded in death by her
parents and husband, Robert "Bob" Wilson.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 14,
2006 at 11:00 a.m., with a viewing one hour prior to
services and 6-8 Friday evening at Goshen LDS Ward Church.
The burial will be in Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi, Utah.
Leon Mikkelson
1928-2006
Warren Leon Mikkelson, 77, peacefully passed away
Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006, of kidney failure at his home in
Fountain Green, with his loving wife by his side. He was
born at the family home on Dec. 1, 1928, the 7th child of
Nekolie Christian and Mary Luella Holman Mikkelson. He
married Beth McKean June 6, 1958. Their marriage was sealed
in the Manti LDS Temple on Sept. 16, 2000.
Leon began service in the U.S. Army in 1950, and was
honorably discharged in 1952. He enjoyed fishing, hunting,
and camping on the West Desert with his wife. He was a
lifetime member of the Ftn. Green Sportsmans Club, worked at
NRP for 33 years and retired Feb. 1, 1990. He owned a farm
and maintained 100 head of sheep. He loved to entertain the
grandchildren with whistling and wiggling his ears. He was a
very loving man.
He is survived by his wife, three children, Robert
(Sandra) Hales, Orange, CA; Diane (Michael) Loveridge, SLC;
Gary (Peggy) Hales, Orem; 21 grandchildren, 36
great-grandchildren; brother, Eugene (Marion) Mikkelson,
SLC; sisters, Arlene (Kay) Rymer, Taylorsville; Carma (Dean)
Jensen, Moroni; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death
by his parents; brother, Grant; sisters, Laraine, Nelda,
Ellen, Doris and Lois.
Funeral Services were held Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, at
the Ftn. Green 2nd Ward Chapel.
The family would like the thank the Central Valley
Hospice for their kind and loving care.
