Maurice Anderson
Maurice James Anderson, age 64, passed away January 6,
2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He was born November 24, 1940 in Nephi, Utah, to James
Marion and Evelyn Bough Anderson. He married Jeneal Moosman
August 13, 1960. They were later divorced.
He graduated from Juab High School. He joined the U.S.
Navy in 1957 and served 4 years active duty. He liked to
fish and ride his four wheeler in the mountains prospecting
and enjoying the outdoors.
He is survived by his four children, Tamera (Mitchell)
Draper of Freemont, Wanda (Dwight) Oyler of Loa, Eddie
(Shawna) Anderson of Idaho, and Paul Anderson of Colorado;
10 grandchildren; brother, Gary L. Anderson of Nephi.
Funeral services were held January 11, 2005 in the
Levan LDS Chapel. Interment in the Levan Cemetery.
James Reed
James Richard Reed, age 57, passed away January 6,
2005 in Provo, Utah, from injuries sustained in an
industrial accident in Nephi, Utah.
He was born December 7, 1947 in Payson, Utah, to James
Waldon and Thelma Linton Reed. He married Carla Worwood
October 8, 1971. They later divorced.
He was raised in Nephi and graduated from Juab High
School. He was then drafted and served in the Vietnam War.
He worked construction for most of his life throughout Utah
and Nevada. He returned to Nephi to be with his
grandchildren. He enjoyed horse riding, hunting and loved
the outdoors.
He is survived by two daughters and one son, Stacy
(Kevin) Snow, Shauna (Steven) Winter, James C. Reed; five
grandchildren; his father, James Waldon Reed; two brothers,
Gary Reed and Merrill (Jan) Reed, all from Nephi. He was
preceded in death by his mother.
Funeral services were held January 10, 2005 in the
Nephi Stake Center. Interment in Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi,
Utah.
Samuel McCoy
Samuel McKinzie McCoy died on December 31, 2004. He
was born in Provo, Utah, April 20, 1979 to Elbert and
Natalie McCoy.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints. Sam proved himself an outstanding athlete
early in life by playing various sports. He obtained a third
degree Red Belt in Karate at age 11. In 1998, he graduated
from Manti High School. He was know as "Our Lucky Number 7."
He was named in the Who's Who book of High School Athletes
in 1998. He married Verena Lemesany June 11, 1998 in the
Manti LDS Temple, they later divorced. Sam moved to Pueblo,
Colorado, in the summer of 1998 to pursue his dream of
playing college baseball. These plans were postponed due to
a severe motorcycle accident resulting in a closed head
injury. He had a very strong will to survive and battled
back from all his obstacles and began working in a
partnership in his family's locally owned business, AAA
Shamrock Lawn and Landscaping.
Sam married Heather Kanmore in November 2002. His
hobbies included shooting skeet, restoring old vintage
cars. Sam was attending Pueblo Community College,
majoring in auto body repair and custom painting. He was
interning and working part-time at Champlain's Auto Service
and Custom Painting.
Sam is survived by his wife, Heather M. McCoy;
stepson, Christopher; mother and father, Natalie McCoy and
Elbert "Ebb" McCoy; sister, Harmonie S. (Cody) Strickland;
brother, Gregory McCoy. Sam was preceded in death by
grandparents, James B. McCoy, Virginia Strickler McCoy,
Edwin "Ted" and Florice Hjorth Thomas.
Services were held in Pueblo, Colorado, Jan. 4, 2005
at the Montgomery & Steward Chapel with Brother Kenneth
Riggs officiating. Interment was at Imperial Memorial
Gardens.
