There is one bit of good news for members of the
community who are serving the country in the mid-east.
An electric bill credit, once again, is being offered
to those serving in the war.
"I hope this shows our appreciation for those from our
community who have been called to active duty and are
serving our country," said Mayor Chad Brough.
The conflict in Iraq is continuing and residents of
the city who are members of the National Guard and Reserves
are still being called to serve but the utility bill credit
policy for activated military personnel of Nephi City
expired.
Therefore, council members, revised the utility bill
credit policy so that those who are affected by call-ups can
continue to be eligible for the rake off on city
utilities.
"Our residents are still being called to full-time
military duty," said Brough. "However, our policy has
expired so we need to extend the time period."
The credit is available only to head-of-household
National Guard and reserve unit members called into active
duty.
"We are extending the time period to those on active
duty between July 1, 2002 and June 30, 2005," said
Brough.
Qualifying customers will make application to the city
for the credit and will supply copies of the orders that
document the period of active duty.
The credit is for the electric utility charges at the
residence of the military personnel and can be for up to $75
per mont, calculated separately for each month of active
duty.
The total credit issued to an individual over the life
of the program may not exceed $750.
