Following the swearing-in ceremony at Nephi City Council on Tuesday, council members received their new assignments for the year.

In addition, Mayor Chad Brough appointed three city staff members to continued service.

"I will ask the council to ratify the appointment of Blair Painter, for a two year position as city recorder," said Brough.

Linda Wilson, city treasurer, was appointed to a two-year term and Sharla Williams, city justice court judge, was appointed to a four-year term.

Painter, as city recorder, administered the oath of office to the three newly elected council members at the beginning of council meeting in a ceremony conducted before friends, family, and interested citizens.

Of the three, Robert Painter was the only new council member. He replaced Kent Park, who was not re-elected, on the council.

Hold-over council members who also took the oath of office were Jim Wilkey and Brent Bowles.

For the coming year, Mike Jones, will serve as mayor pro tem, a job formerly held by council member, Jim Wilkey.

Jones' other jobs will be to serve as a director on the Intermountain Municipal Gas Agency Board, as a voting director on the Juab Rural Development Agency Board, and as an alternate on the Recreation Advisory Board.

Bowles will serve as the liaison with the Miss Nephi Committee, will be a board member on the Recreation Advisory Board, and a director on the Juab Rural Development Agency Board.

"We will orient you on your assignments, Robert (Painter)," said Brough.

Painter will be a representative of the council on the Six County Association of Governments, a representative on the Six County Economic Development District, and a board member of the Central Utah Correctional Facility.

"I was on the Central Utah Correctional Facility Board," said Wilkey. "They meet in the day and it was difficult to get to the meetings."

"My employment will be flexible enough to allow me to attend the meetings," said R. Painter.

Council member, Greg Rowley, will be a board member on the Community Economic development Agency, liaison with the Nephi City Planning Commission, and a board member on Special Service District #1.

Wilkey will be a board member of the Nephi Public Library Board, liaison with the Nephi City Chamber of Commerce, and liaison with the Airport Advisory Board.

Williams' four-year appointment as justice court judge will be effective on Feb. 2, 2004.
