Lois Metz
Lois Lunt Olsen Metz, age 97, passed away January 1, 2004
in Nephi, Utah. She was born August 25, 1906 in Nephi to
George William and Rosie Ettie Morgan Lunt. She married
Joseph Leo Olsen. They were later divorced. She married
LeRoy Metz February 22, 1960. He preceded her in death.
She graduated from Nephi High School in 1925 and in
1931 she graduated from Utah Agricultural College in Logan.
She taught school in Nevada and California, retiring from
the California School System. She was an accomplished
pianist and played for silent movies in Nephi, Nephi's dance
band, college dance bands and traveled the state playing
with her distinct style. She wrote and published many
children's books, short stories, school songbooks, operetta
and dance books.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was
preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers, George
Aphius, Aleta Pearl, Algegra, Charles Rodger, Eugene, Alma
Edward and Morgan William.
Funeral services were held January 6, 2004 at the
Anderson Funeral Home in Nephi. Interment in Vine Bluff
Cemetery Nephi, Utah.
