Nephi City Council will meet an hour later
Tuesdays&emdash;instead of meeting at 7:30 p.m. they will
meet at 8:30 p.m.
The council will try the new time for the two meetings
to be held in February.
At first, council members considered moving the
meeting to another evening of the week but decided it was
not the best solution.
"I'm afraid if we meet on another night we will have
even more scheduling conflict," said Mayor Chad Brough.
It was suggested the meeting be held later on Tuesday
evenings so that members of the council who are involved in
the youth program of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints can take care of responsibilities in both
places.
The Young Men and Young Women organizations of both
the Nephi Utah and Nephi North Stakes meet on Tuesday
evenings beginning at 7 p.m. The meetings are usually over
by 8:30 p.m.
"May I suggest that you just make the change on a
temporary basis and see how well it works?" said Randy
McKnight, city administrator.
That way, he said, if the time change did not work
well, it would not be difficult to change it back to 7:30
p.m.
Once the time is officially set, for the long-term,
several agencies need to be notified. For example, the
League of Cities and Towns publishes a list of councils in
the state and there meeting dates and times.
Changes will also need to be made on several websites
and other groups will need to be notified.
"It will be a major change and will require some time
to complete," said Blair Painter, city recorder.
