Wm. Boyd Howarth was sworn-in on Monday at the beginning
of the regular session of Juab County Commission.
Howarth was elected to a second term on the commission
following the November election. He ran unopposed for the
seat.
Following the swearing-in ceremony where the oath of
office was administered by Sharla Williams, Juab County
Precinct Court Judge, Howarth was re-elected by his fellow
commissioners to continue his post as commission chair.
Commissioner Robert Steele made the motion and
Commissioner Joseph Bernini seconded it, both voting in
favor.
"Each one of us will have one new responsibility in the
coming year that we have had the past year," said Howarth.
"We will each serve on the Juab County Special Fire District
Board."
Bernini, the member of the commission who has served
longest, was assigned to keep the same commission
assignments, with the exception of the fire district board,
he had in 2000.
He will be a member of the hospital board, the Six County
AOG Board, the Six County Economic Board, and will be a
member of the citizen's advisory council for the Gunnison
prison facility.
Bernini will also represent the county on the Work Forces
Services and Aging.
He will also be over law enforcement, Eureka area
buildings and grounds, the West Juab Ambulance, and Special
Service District No. 2 (Mineral Lease Monies).
Steele will sit on the Juab County Economic Development
Board, Six County Public Health board, Juab County Weed
Board, the Central Utah Film Commission, Panoramaland Board,
Planning and Zoning Commission, library board and the Ash
Grove Community Council.
He will also represent the county on the governing body
for the Executive Enterprise Zone and Criminal Justice.
Howarth will sit on the Mental Health, Alcohol, Drugs and
Health Board, the Juab County Fair Board, and will be on the
Executive Board for the Juab County Special Fire District
Board.
"There are three members of that executive board," said
Howarth. "As commission chair, I am a member, along with
Neil Cook and Bret Ostler."
Howarth will also oversee the East Juab Ambulance,
Juvenile Justice, Special Service District No. 1; the Juab
Rural Development Agency (JRDA), Class B Roads, and the
courthouse and grounds.
He will serve as chair of the county building
authority.
It was determined that commission meetings will continue
to be held on the first and third Mondays of each month. The
first meeting will be held at 3 p.m. and the second at 10
a.m.
If the meeting falls on a Monday holiday, then the
meeting will be held on the next day, a Tuesday.
