Alta Lavern Nielsen Kay

Alta Lavern Nielsen Kay, age 88, passed away at home on Jan. 12, 2000.

She was born Jan. 11, 1912, in Nephi, Utah, to Samuel P. and Sarah Painter Nielsen. She married Newton Ernest Kay Aug. 14, 1930, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

She was a member of the LDS Church, serving in many positions in Primary, Sunday School, and Relief Society. She loved flowers, gardening, and doing things with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Newton Kay; four children, Clyde (Darlene) Kay, Karen (Boyd) Mickel, Rex Kay, and Reva (John) Maughan; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services were held Jan. 15, 2000, in the Nephi LDS 1st Ward. Burial in the Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi, Utah.

 

Helen Warren Daley

Helen Warren Daley died Jan. 6, 2000, in Salt Lake City, Utah, after a lingering illness.

She was born May 14, 1922, in Nephi, Utah, to Fred and Jenny Larsen Warren. She married Robert Daley May 27, 1950. He died Dec. 31, 1986.

Helen enjoyed playing the piano, oil painting, crocheting and golfing.

She is survived by three brothers and three sisters, Norman (Elaine) of Florida, Harold of Logan, Doris (Tim) Bowers-Irons of Nephi/St. George, Ruth Sparks, Fred (Dorothy), and Janice (Ken) Turner, all of Salt Lake City.

Services and internment were held on Jan. 10, 2000, at Wasatch Memorial Park in Salt Lake City.
