Blair Painter, Nephi City Recorder, swore the winners of
November's election into office on Tuesday evening at the
beginning of council meeting.
Those re-elected to office were Brent Bowles and Michael
T. Jones.
New to the council is Kent Park. He successfully ran for
the seat which Richard Paxman vacated by choosing not to run
for re-election this past fall.
Following the oath of office, Park was welcomed to the
council by Mayor Chad Brough.
No new seating arrangements and no new council
assignments were made at the first council meeting of 2000.
Those assignments will be made next meeting, said
Brough.
As the first item of business at council meeting on
Tuesday, Mayor Chad Brough appointed three officers.
"State law mandates how the appointments will be handled
and the terms of office," said Brough.
Linda Wilson was appointed as city treasurer for a
two-year term.
Blair Painter was appointed as city recorder for a
two-year term.
Sharla Williams was appointed as justice court judge for
a four year term.
"These are appointments," said Brough. "I would like a
vote of approval from the council."
