Nephi City Council approved a grant with the State of
Utah for money to create an economic model for the
community.
"The grant, from the Quality Growth Commission, will fund
the creation of an economic model that will compare the cost
of services to new development with the economic benefits of
new development," said Chad Brough, mayor.
The grant, for $6,000, must have a community 50 percent
match of $6,000.
"We belong to Envision," said Brough. The council had
attended the planning sessions for future growth and, now,
council members were interested in development of the new
economic model.
"It will be interesting to see the cost of services vs
the economic benefits that come to a community as a result
of development," said Brough.
"We are fortunate to have been successful in getting the
grant."
Council members voted to authorize the mayor to sign the
agreement allowing the city to accept the grant.
