A Soil Conservation District (SCD) is a subdivision of state government, classified as a dependent special district. Its purpose is to enhance and protect private land and water resources. Long term soil and water protection has public benefits thus all levels of government offer support to SCD programs. A 5-member board of elected citizens, Supervisors, governs its SCD.
