Juab County received a check for $5,707.83 from the
Division of Wildlife Resources as an in-lieu of taxes
payment.
Jordan Pederson, representing the division, said the
money was a payment in behalf of the sportsmen who hunted
and fished in the county on property administered by the
DWR.
"This is money that comes from license fees and the
like," said Pederson. The money is placed in a DWR account
and is paid to the counties for property taxes that could
have been collected by the county if the property were
privately owned.
"The in-lieu of taxes money is paid on behalf of property
DWR has in Juab County," said Pederson.
